Reading the ledger

Three columns that matter.

The demo's fish data is more useful than a tier list. Level tells you when the fish appears, temperament tells you how to present the bait, and value tells you whether to sell it or process it.

How to fish in Dreadmoor
01

Level is a gate, not a difficulty slider

Low-level fish show up in the sheltered water around the Trading Post. Level 10 fish appear once the boat and rods can reach the outer channels. Level 30 and 50 species are late-demo targets, not first-hour catches.

02

Temperament decides the cast

Peaceful fish take bait and fight stamina. Predatory fish need a moving lure in a splash zone before the fight begins. Using a predator lure on a peaceful spot mostly wastes a cast.

03

Value is not the same as usefulness

A Softgrazer is worth more as Chromatic Scales than as a sale. A Sharpfin is worth more as Deadly Tick flesh than as a quick payout. Read the processing note before you sell the whole hold.

Ledger questions

Fish FAQ.

What is the best bait in Dreadmoor?

There is no single best bait. Earthworm is the Snapper-only starter bait; Wind-Up Tin and Sturdy Earcrawler cover peaceful fish; Rainbow Fin and Flaming Belly cover most predators; Pipecross and Deadly Tick are listed for Bonescar, Bully, Rammfish and Stonegnawer. Match the bait to the fish's archetype and mutation.

What is the difference between peaceful and predatory fish?

Peaceful fish take a stationary or sound-based bait and fight with stamina. Predatory fish must first be drawn into a chase: cast into a splash zone, then retrieve the lure at a pace the fish can follow. Predators generally hit harder and pay more per kilogram.

What are Sea Blight mutants in Dreadmoor?

Mutants are fish twisted by the Sea Blight. They use the same peaceful or predatory catch loop but often have distinct bait affinities, faster runs or higher value. The demo data lists 10 mutants among the 28 fish.

How do I track the fish I have caught?

Open any fish field sheet and press “Mark as caught”. The catch log is stored in your browser with local storage, so it survives a refresh but stays on that device. The fish ledger shows your progress out of 28.

Keep the ledger open while you fish.
