First watch
The first four things to do.
Dreadmoor is not shy about hiding its next step behind a fishing job or a broken machine. Start with the route, then learn the water.
Read the beginner guide- 01 Read the water Controls, fuel, inventory pressure, the Grinder and the first hour. The beginner guide covers the systems the tutorial does not spell out. Beginner guide
- 02 Follow the demo From the Abandoned House to Betsy and Sons, the Dry Dock, the three fishing contracts and the gate at The Throat. Demo walkthrough
- 03 Learn the fight Stamina, line tension, splash zones and the bait table. Fishing is a first-person fight, not a progress bar. Fishing guide
- 04 Get the boat out Hull Protection, the Carburetor, the Upgraded Engine and the exact materials John expects before the gate. Boat upgrades
The catch ledger
Know what is on the line.
Every species in the demo, with its level, temperament and effective bait. Filter the ledger, then open a field sheet for size classes, stamina, tension and processing notes.
| Species | Level | Temperament | Best bait | Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| | Lv 5 | peaceful | Earthworm | 4/kg |
| | Lv 15 | peaceful | Wind-Up Tin / Sturdy Earcrawler | 8/kg |
| | Lv 10 | predatory | Rainbow Fin / Flaming Belly | 7/kg |
| | Lv 30 | predatory | Rainbow Fin / Flaming Belly | 12/kg |
| | Lv 50 | peaceful | Wind-Up Tin / Sturdy Earcrawler | 16/kg |
| | Lv 0 | predatory Mutant | Rainbow Fin / Flaming Belly | 1/kg |
| | Lv 0 | predatory Mutant | Pipecross / Deadly Tick | 1/kg |

Values come from the October 2026 demo build and may change in Early Access. A “mutant” tag marks a Sea Blight mutation, not a separate catch system.
The tackle bench
Match the bait to the fish.
Pick a temperament, add the mutation filter and see which lures the demo actually lists. This is a real filter over the 28-species dataset, not a recommendation widget with a pulse.
Bait affinities are split 50/50 where two baits are listed. Earthworm is the Snapper-only exception.

Craft note
Earthworm is the starting bait and needs no recipe.

The chart room
A route through the water.
The demo is small enough to learn, but not small enough to wander blindly. This schematic tracks the ports, fishing grounds, salvage fields and the gate that ends the run.

Straight answers
What people ask first.
The short version on release, platforms, demo length and the Dredge question. Longer answers live in the linked guides.
Is Dreadmoor a Dredge sequel?
No. Dreadmoor is an original game from Dream Dock, published by Digital Vortex Entertainment. It shares Dredge's Lovecraftian fishing tone, but it is first-person, lets you walk around settlements and fight creatures on foot, and is set in its own flooded world called the Submerged Lands.
When does Dreadmoor release?
Dreadmoor enters Steam Early Access on 9 November 2026. The launch price is $19.99, with an optional $4.99 Supporter Pack. Early Access is expected to last roughly 6–12 months.
Is Dreadmoor multiplayer or co-op?
Dreadmoor is a single-player game. The Steam page lists single-player only, with no co-op or multiplayer mode announced.
How long is the Dreadmoor demo?
The October 2026 demo takes most players around one to two hours for the main route, and longer if you explore, fish for side species and upgrade the boat. It ends after you repair The Throat and sail through the gate.
Is Dreadmoor on PS5, Xbox or Nintendo Switch?
At Early Access launch Dreadmoor is a PC game on Steam. No PS5, Xbox or Switch version has been announced. The demo and Early Access build are playable on Steam Deck.
How many fish are in the Dreadmoor demo?
The demo's fish data lists 28 species, including 10 peaceful fish, 18 predatory fish and 10 Sea Blight mutants. Our fish ledger tracks levels, bait affinities, size classes and catch stats for all 28.
