When does Dreadmoor come out?
Dreadmoor enters Steam Early Access on Monday, 9 November 2026. The release-date announcement arrived on 15 October 2026, alongside a new trailer and confirmation that the game was already a top-100 most-wishlisted unreleased title on Steam.
This is an Early Access launch, not a 1.0 release. Dream Dock says the core experience and main systems are already in place, and the Early Access period is for balance, polish and shaping future content.
Price and Supporter Pack
The base game costs $19.99 during Early Access. An optional $4.99 Early Access Supporter Pack is also planned. The developers have worked on regional pricing, so your local Steam store is the final authority on the exact amount.
Early Access is deliberately cheaper than the planned full release. If you are unsure about the current content, the free demo is the safer test; if you already know you want the core loop, the Early Access price is the lower entry point.
What is in the Early Access version?
The launch build includes the complete core gameplay loop, one major region, the original story, and a wide variety of fish species and mutations. After the story, players can keep exploring, fishing, collecting rare specimens and upgrading the boat and equipment.
- First-person fishing with stamina and line-tension fights.
- Peaceful and predatory fish, including Sea Blight mutations.
- Boat repair and module upgrades: engines, propellers, hulls, holds, lights and afterburners.
- Crafting, salvage, trading and real-time combat on water and land.
- One major region at Early Access launch, with more planned.
Platforms and Steam Deck
Dreadmoor is a PC game on Steam. No PS5, Xbox or Nintendo Switch version has been announced. The demo is playable on Steam Deck, and the developers have continued optimizing for handheld play. If you are on Linux, the demo has been reported working through Proton.
The game supports single-player only. Steam Cloud and Family Sharing are listed on the store page, but there is no co-op or multiplayer mode.

Early Access roadmap: what is confirmed
Dream Dock plans to add new game areas with new adventures, additional fish species, new fishing mechanics and further boat upgrades. Smaller content updates are planned throughout Early Access, alongside balance, stability and polish work.
The team has said it will collect feedback through Steam Discussions, Discord, in-game tools, surveys and social media. It is specifically interested in fishing, exploration, progression, difficulty, economy, nighttime expeditions, controls, accessibility and performance.
Is Dreadmoor a Dredge sequel?
No. Dreadmoor is an original game from Dream Dock, published by Digital Vortex Entertainment. The comparison is inevitable because both are Lovecraftian fishing games, but the structure is different: Dreadmoor is first-person, you leave the boat to explore on foot, and combat is real-time rather than boat-only.
| Aspect | Dreadmoor | Dredge |
|---|---|---|
| Perspective | First-person, on foot and at the helm | Third-person boat control |
| Combat | Real-time on water and land | Mostly avoidance and boat hazards |
| Fishing | Skill-based fight with stamina and tension | Timing minigames |
| Setting | The Submerged Lands, post-collapse | The Marrows, Lovecraftian archipelago |
| Connection | Original game, no story connection | Original game by Black Salt Games |
Should you play the demo first?
Yes, if you are unsure. The free demo covers the opening house, Betsy and Sons, the three fishing contracts, the Dry Dock and The Throat. It is a complete slice of the Early Access loop, and it is the best way to test the fishing feel before paying.
Our demo guide covers the download, content and save warning, and the walkthrough takes you through every quest if you get stuck.
