The inventory
Dreadmoor items: what it is, where it comes from, what it unlocks.
A practical item database for the demo. Filter by category, search for a material name, and follow the source column instead of shaking every barrel on the map.
Everything on the boat was either found or owed.

Supply discipline
Three materials decide the demo.
Most crafting complaints are not about a missing recipe. They are about a material that was spent on the wrong thing twenty minutes earlier.
Metal Plate
Used by the engine, hull, holds, spotlight, bait and repair work. Gather every barrel you can reach, and keep ten spare before spending on optional modules.
Boat module costsChromatic Scales
Processed from Softgrazers at the Thresher. The hull module, Rainbow Fin, Sturdy Earcrawler and spotlight all draw from the same pool. Process extra fish.
Softgrazer field sheetBug Slime
Pulled from blue creatures with the Hook Gun. The Moonshine Still and the Dry Dock hull repair both need it. Gather more than the still asks for.

Where is it?
Where do I find Metal Plates in Dreadmoor?
Metal Plates come from floating barrels, metal containers and wreck salvage. Use the Hook Gun to retrieve containers, then check the contents. They are the most demanded material in the demo, so keep a reserve of at least ten before buying optional modules.
Where do I buy the Carburetor?
At Betsy and Sons, after delivering three Harpooners to Gill and Bozur. The Carburetor costs 50 and is required for the Upgraded Engine. It does not appear in your inventory automatically when the contract is completed.
What are Scraps of Knowledge used for?
Scraps of Knowledge are the inventory item behind Torn Pages, the research currency for the ship, fishing and tools trees. Spend them on Weak Hull Protection and the Upgraded Engine first; optional blueprints can wait.
How do I get Bug Slime?
Look for the small blue creatures on the water and pull them in with the Hook Gun. Bug Slime is used for John's Moonshine Still repair, the Dry Dock hull repair and several crafting recipes. Keep spare for the hull work.
How do I get Chromatic Scales?
Catch Softgrazers at the peaceful fishing spot and process them at the Thresher. Chromatic Scales are used by Hull Protection, Rainbow Fin, Sturdy Earcrawler and the spotlight, so plan the supply before spending them.
Need the recipe, not the material?
